Cornwall Wedding Photographer

Unposed, Natural, Relaxed Professional Photography

Hey! I'm Steven. I am a Cornwall Wedding Photographer. I have been professionally photographing weddings since 2004 and have captured hundreds of happy couples. Before I was a wedding photographer I was a professional music photographer working worldwide with big acts. My approach to wedding photography is simple: to create a whole story that documents your most important day in the most natural and beautiful way possible. Working on all that the pictures are captured for forever. I will always look to capture your special day naturally and organically, documenting the fun, laughter and happiness as and how it occurs. I cover set up, love, photographs of your big day directing you or your guests. I follow the narrative of the day and capture all of the magical moments.

The Ultimate Bride Guide to Wedding Planning and Timelines

Welcome to the Bride Guide… I’m sure you feel excited, overwhelmed, happy, emotional, etc.! Here’s a guide to make your wedding planning a bit easier. Most of all, remember this day is about YOU, and you deserve the best, so make it a day that will reflect you two. There will be many opinions throughout the process, but stick with your gut and do what you two want! I’ve not only been a bride at my wedding, but have photographer many of them, and here are some tips to help anyone getting married.

Defining Your Vision and Guest Count

Start with what reflects you two as a couple.. what do YOU want to do? Your vision will help you plan your day. Whether you see yourself and your significant other getting married in a small elopement or a destination, the best advice I can give, is do what is ‘YOU’ if a big wedding isn’t you, don’t do it.

All the opinions will eventually be forgotten on your wedding day. Most couples want something intimate, and they should do it! You can always have a bigger ‘just married’ celebration after your big day. Checking in with most brides a few months before the wedding, the case usually is that their guest list went up and they are overwhelmed, wishing they had a smaller wedding or even an elopement. Be selective in your guest list, as this is one area that is directly related to the cost of the wedding.

Essential Planning Steps

Before we outline what a typical wedding day timeline looks like, we put together a few tips to think about before planning out the timeline of events on your big day:

  • Start Planning Early: Planning early will go a long way in reducing stress and allowing for more options for your big day. Don’t procrastinate on this one, planning will pay off allowing you and your partner to enjoy the pre-wedding time together.
  • Set a Budget: Make sure you determine your budget and stick to it. Be realistic about what you can afford to spend. Beautiful and memorable weddings can exist on small budgets as well.
  • Read Vendor Contracts Carefully: Reading your vendor contracts is very important. Take the time to understand them and ask questions if you need to. Pay close attention to cancellation policies, services not provided and charges to changes to additional services.
  • Ask for Help: There are endless tasks to wedding planning and it can be stressful and time consuming. Share the work and ask for help. Friends and family won’t mind helping, it makes them feel part of the planning.

Location and Timing

Best times to get married are before/ after summer. There are less visitors in town, and the weather is cooler. These are popular months, so be sure to start looking for venues early & booking! If you find that one day is not enough to celebrate, do a wedding weekend! This is ideal for weddings where guests are traveling to your location. Having a wedding weekend can give you more time to spend with your guest; instead of a traditional rehearsal dinner, have a bbq or boat ride or just hang on the beach.

The Wedding Dress and Getting Ready

A wedding dress is both intimate and personal for a woman— it must reflect the personality and style of the bride. You want to feel beautiful in your dress- comfortable and like yourself. This one is all about you, don’t go for the dress that mom or your friends like, go with the one YOU love. It is a good idea to shop early!

Favorite dress shops in SoCal:

  • Grace Loves Lace San Diego
  • The Dress Theory
  • Lovely Bride

Top Preparation Tips:

  • When choosing a getting ready spot, natural light work best!
  • Aim to find a room with lots of natural light and pick a spot that isn’t too cluttered.
  • Airbnb’s can be stylish, compared to hotels.
  • To minimize clutter, designate a spot for bags, details, etc. so they stay out of the photos.

Wedding Day Timeline and Photography

Be sure to leave enough time, and not try to squeeze too many things in on the wedding day. Something will usually go wrong at a wedding, (try not to stress it!) this is why you leave extra time. You also don’t want to feel overwhelmed or rushed, try to enjoy every moment! A day-of schedule is a great cheat sheet to share with your bridal party and wedding vendors so everyone knows when everything’s supposed to happen.

The First Look: This is when the bride and groom decide to see each other before the ceremony. It can be as emotional as walking down the aisle, it’s just you two and you have some time for yourselves to actually take it all in before the wedding day starts. By getting the main photos done earlier, you have more time to spend with your guests after.

Sample Wedding Day Schedule

  • 11:00 AM: Hair + Make Up (Budget 45 minutes for each bridesmaid and 1 to 1.5 hours for the bride).
  • 12:00 PM: Venue opens, florist delivers flowers.
  • 02:00 PM: Bridal party leaves for ceremony venue.
  • 02:15 PM: Pre-ceremony pictures (bridal party, family of the bride, and bridal portraits).
  • 03:00 PM: First look and couple pictures.

As well as being a wedding photographer in Cornwall I am also a professional couple and engagement photoshoots. I love photographing love! In which I do love having photographed couples for the last 15 years in Cornwall and the rest of the world.

Whether you are a new couple or have been married for 50+ years, a professional couple is a wonderful gift. I have photographed couples of many stages of their relationship.

I always make sure the photoshoots are relaxed, unposed, and fun. Not many people enjoy having their photos taken, including me, which is why I make sure that you are both relaxed and happy during the shoot.

Engagement photoshoots are a great way to get used to the camera before your wedding and are offered as part of my wedding photography.
