Exploring The Wedding Veil Trilogy and Its Enchanting Sequels
The Wedding Veil follows longtime friends who find a mysterious, antique veil fabled to unite its bearer with her true love. This is the first of three romantic movies set around an antique Italian lace veil and the three friends played by Alison Sweeney, Lacey Chabert and Autumn Reeser. The three friends met in college during grad school and each has picked an occupation around art.
The Legend of the Antique Italian Lace Veil
To maintain their friendship the three friends have a once a year weekend together in a different town to go antiquing. It was during one of these weekends in San Francisco that they find a beautiful Italian antique veil. The proprietor of the antique shop tells them that the veil has a legend...whoever is in possession of the veil will find their one true love. The first movie in a trilogy, each installment centered on one of the three friends and her time with the title veil.
Avery's Story: Love and Expectations
Lacey's character, Avery, is by far the most romantic of the three and they are all convinced that she should have the veil. Avery almost immediately meets a dashingly handsome gentleman named Peter. Peter and Avery spend a magical day in San Francisco together...but then part awkwardly when Peter sees the veil and assumes Avery is getting married, only to meet again back in Boston where they have to work together to put on a gala for Avery's museum.
In the sequel, The Wedding Veil Expectations, Avery and Peter try to keep the romance alive while renovating an old house and juggling work, but everything takes on a new perspective when Avery has a surprise for Peter. It let us glimpse into the new marriage of Avery and Peter, and the negotiations and frustrations that come with marriage and the adjustment to another person in most aspects of life. The story was well done, even though it was vastly different from the book it was based on.
Emma's Journey: The Wedding Veil Inspiration
Emma's life plan is thrown off course when Paolo must return to Italy to take care of his father and she discovers a new passion for making art accessible to all. The Wedding Veil Inspiration continues the story of Emma (Autumn Reeser), who is back at work while her husband is opening a lace store in Chicago. This time the relationship is a really long-distance romance: Chicago and Italy. Autumn Reeser and her co-star Paolo Bernadini definitely have chemistry and bring out the modern-day issues of a two-career couple.
Production and Cinematography
The acting, the scenery, the costumes, and the music are top notch. The location on Victoria Island, BC is perfect and the cinematography clear, rich, and crisp. Hallmark has grown into producing mature stories and has an excellent repertoire of actors and talent to bring intelligent films to their audiences.
