Cornwall Wedding Photographer

Unposed, Natural, Relaxed Professional Photography

Hey! I'm Steven. I am a Cornwall Wedding Photographer. I have been professionally photographing weddings since 2004 and have captured hundreds of happy couples. Before I was a wedding photographer I was a professional music photographer working worldwide with big acts. My approach to wedding photography is simple: to create a whole story that documents your most important day in the most natural and beautiful way possible. Working on all that the pictures are captured for forever. I will always look to capture your special day naturally and organically, documenting the fun, laughter and happiness as and how it occurs. I cover set up, love, photographs of your big day directing you or your guests. I follow the narrative of the day and capture all of the magical moments.

A Little Bit About Me

I love being a wedding photographer in Cornwall. I've been professionally photographing weddings since 2004 and have captured hundreds of happy couples. Before I was a wedding photographer I was a professional music photographer working worldwide with big acts. Photography has always been a huge passion of mine ever since I was a child.

I grew up in Cornwall but have enjoyed travelling the world as much as possible since my early 20s. Not only do I love photographing weddings in Cornwall, I've never been lucky enough to capture couples special days all over the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

How to Find the Best Professional Headshot Photographer in Louisville

When you search for “professional headshots near me,” you’ll get a long list of photographers. Some specialize in headshots, others offer it as one service among many. If you’re in Louisville and looking for a headshot that actually represents who you are—confident, sharp, and real—here’s what to look for.

Choose a Photographer Who Specializes in Headshots

Headshots aren’t just cropped portraits. They require precision, subtle coaching, and an understanding of how to capture real, confident expression. You want someone who works with professionals regularly — not someone squeezing in headshots between weddings or product shoots. A true headshot specialist knows how to bring out your best with minimal stress and no awkward posing.

A headshot is a tool. It represents you before you even enter the room. It needs to be right. The cheapest option might get you a decent image. But a photographer who knows how to create a portrait that works in the real world — on LinkedIn, in proposals, across platforms — is worth the investment.

Evaluating Portfolios and Client Feedback

Look beyond the lighting and editing. What do the expressions feel like? Do the people in the images look natural, confident, like someone you’d want to meet or do business with? A strong portfolio should show consistency, clarity, and people who look like the best version of themselves.

Star ratings matter, but the words matter more. Are clients saying they felt confident? That the process was smooth and professional? That they actually enjoyed the experience? In Louisville, the market is full of options. The quality shows up in what people choose to talk about after the session. If you’ve noticed someone’s headshot on LinkedIn or elsewhere and thought, "Wow, that’s a great photo!", don’t hesitate to reach out and ask where they got it done. Referrals from friends or colleagues can be one of the most reliable ways to find a great headshot photographer. Most people are happy to share their positive experiences.

How to Spot Red Flags

Just as it’s important to know what to look for in a great photographer, it’s equally vital to know what to avoid. Here are some red flags to watch out for:

  • Inconsistent Work: If a photographer’s portfolio varies widely in quality, lighting, or style, it may indicate a lack of expertise.
  • Unclear Pricing: Be cautious if pricing isn’t transparent or clearly outlined before booking.
  • Poor Communication: If a photographer is slow to respond or doesn’t answer your questions thoroughly, it could lead to a frustrating experience.

By steering clear of these pitfalls, you’ll ensure your headshot experience is smooth, professional, and enjoyable.

Preparing for Your Session

Before booking, you should feel comfortable asking your photographer any questions about the headshot process. A skilled photographer will guide you through these decisions with ease, ensuring you feel fully prepared for your session. Here are some examples:

  • What should I wear for my headshot?
  • What colors look best in professional headshots?
  • Should I hire a makeup artist?
  • What’s the best background for headshots?

Why Professionals Choose Ben Marcum Photography

At Ben Marcum Photography, headshots aren’t an afterthought. The process is simple, efficient, and built for busy professionals. Every session is focused on helping you look like yourself at your best: clear, confident, and real. Whether you’re an executive, entrepreneur, attorney, or creative, the right headshot can help you open doors and build trust faster.

Creating exceptional headshots isn’t as simple as pointing a camera and clicking a button. There’s an art to directing expressions, using lighting to highlight features, and bringing out the best in every individual. The human face is incredibly dynamic, and capturing a genuine, approachable expression requires skill and experience. For example, eliciting a natural smile isn’t done by simply saying “Smile!” (pro tip: that never works). A true professional knows how to create an environment where genuine expressions shine, resulting in headshots that are confident, authentic, and entirely you.

Book your headshot session with Ben Marcum Photography and walk away with images that represent you at your strongest. This is your professional image. Let’s make it count.

Engagement and Couple Photographer Cornwall

As well as being a wedding photographer in Cornwall I am also a professional couple and engagement photoshoots. I love photographing love! In which I do love having photographed couples for the last 15 years in Cornwall and the rest of the world.

Whether you are a new couple or have been married for 50+ years, a professional couple is a wonderful gift. I have photographed couples of many stages of their relationship.

I always make sure the photoshoots are relaxed, unposed, and fun. Not many people enjoy having their photos taken, including me, which is why I make sure that you are both relaxed and happy during the shoot.

Engagement photoshoots are a great way to get used to the camera before your wedding and are offered as part of my wedding photography.
