I have always loved storms and growing up near Porthleven as soon as one is forecast I am already there, waiting in anticipation as it rarely fails to impress and my god, Storm Ciaran was no exception!

For those that were not as lucky as me and are not aware of Porthleven it’s typically a charming coastal village in Cornwall and a popular destination for storm photography due to its rugged shoreline and iconic clock tower. The combination of rocky cliffs, a historic harbour, and the relentless power of the Atlantic Ocean makes it a prime spot for capturing the rage and drama of a storm. There are several key vantage spots to viewing and photograph storms in relative safety but the more well known ones do get busy!

During the event, I was trying to get creative by slowing down the shutter speed as the waves fall away from the pier. Photographing a storm, especially one as powerful as Storm Ciaran, is both challenging and exhilarating.
