Cornwall Wedding Photographer

Unposed, Natural, Relaxed Professional Photography

Hey! I'm Steven. I am a Cornwall Wedding Photographer. I have been professionally photographing weddings since 2004 and have captured hundreds of happy couples. Before I was a wedding photographer I was a professional music photographer working worldwide with big acts. My approach to wedding photography is simple: to create a whole story that documents your most important day in the most natural and beautiful way possible. Working on all that the pictures are captured for forever. I will always look to capture your special day naturally and organically, documenting the fun, laughter and happiness as and how it occurs. I cover set up, love, photographs of your big day directing you or your guests. I follow the narrative of the day and capture all of the magical moments.

Editorial Group Photographs at Weddings: A Guide to Timeless and Stylish Memories

Group photographs at weddings are no longer just a tradition—they’re a chance to create unforgettable, stylish images that showcase your loved ones in a way that feels like it belongs in a magazine. Editorial group photographs are perfect for couples who want their wedding day to be as fashionable as it is heartfelt. These photos celebrate your bridal party with a bold, polished flair that elevates your wedding album to a whole new level.

What Are Editorial Group Photographs?

Editorial photography is inspired by the elegance and drama of high-fashion magazines. Unlike traditional wedding group shots, editorial photos are dynamic, focusing on storytelling, creative composition, and a sense of artistry. It definitely draws inspiration from fashion magazines and photojournalism, aiming to tell a compelling and visually striking narrative. Editorial photography is all about conveying a story; it is driven by emotion and energy, light, and the surrounding environment.

How to Achieve Stunning Editorial Group Photos

To master this style, preparation and planning are essential. Plan Ahead and discuss your vision with your photographer well in advance. Share examples of group shots you love—whether it’s bold symmetrical arrangements, dynamic poses, or elegant setups—and collaborate to create a plan tailored to your wedding. Curating the elements of the wedding day, such as the venue, decor, and details, contributes to the overall editorial aesthetic. Editorial style also thrives on capturing the beauty in small details, from the bride’s jewelry to the intricate design of the wedding invitations.

Choose the Right Setting

The setting plays a pivotal role in creating a refined, editorial aesthetic for your group photos. It’s not just a background—it sets the tone and enhances the overall composition. Imagine the grandeur of a chateau staircase, the timeless elegance of a vintage car, the opulence of a tapestry-lined salon, or the serene beauty of a lush garden. Each of these locations adds its own character, creating a visual narrative that reflects the uniqueness of your wedding day while elevating the mood and style of the photograph.

Perfect Posing and Timing

Editorial group photos are posed but far from stiff. Your photographer will guide you and your bridal party through intentional, stylish arrangements that highlight everyone beautifully. From structured lineups to layered positioning that adds depth, posing is key to creating striking visuals. Guiding your couple on posing will be so important in order to get that particular look.

To ensure these stunning shots don’t feel rushed, it is essential to allocate time in your schedule. Editorial group photos are intricate and require careful direction and precision. Collaborate with your photographer to allocate enough time for these photos without compromising moments like couple portraits, cocktail hour, or the speeches.

Coordinate Bridal Party Outfits

When planning your bridal party outfits, keep in mind that these photos will be a focal point of your wedding album. Choose attire that complements each other and fits the overall aesthetic of your day. Whether it’s coordinating color schemes, choosing elegant fabrics, or picking a variety of styles that still feel unified, thoughtful outfit planning will ensure your group shots have a harmonious, polished look.

Mastering Light and Composition

Something that is so fun about editorial style photography is the ability to really play with light. It’s so important to master light and shadow because this style often involves playing with natural and artificial light to create dynamic and visually engaging compositions. The modern aspect of this is a draw to contrast - light and shadow, angles and juxtapositions, cold and warm, night and day. It is a delicate blend of old and new romance and minimalism versus maximalism and knowing how to balance this recipe.

Concepts for Editorial Group Shots

  • Interplay with Space: Use architectural elements like arches, stairs, or open fields to frame your group creatively.
  • Symmetrical Lineups: Perfectly balanced poses that feel bold and striking.
  • Candid Moments: Laughter, conversations, or spontaneous reactions make for unforgettable images.
  • Vogue-Inspired Staging: Think angular poses, bold expressions, and intentional styling.

Summary of Editorial Photography Elements

Element Description
Inspiration High-fashion magazines, photojournalism, and fine art flair.
Focus Storytelling, creative composition, and emotional energy.
Key Locations Chateau staircases, vintage cars, salons, and lush gardens.

Selecting a photographer experienced in editorial-style wedding photography is essential. They’ll know how to direct your group with precision, craft poses that feel polished yet natural, and use lighting and composition to create timeless, magazine-worthy images. Working with the right professional ensures your event will intrinsically feel intimate, exclusive, and organic.
