Cornwall Wedding Photographer

Unposed, Natural, Relaxed Professional Photography

Hey! I'm Steven. I am a Cornwall Wedding Photographer. I have been professionally photographing weddings since 2004 and have captured hundreds of happy couples. Before I was a wedding photographer I was a professional music photographer working worldwide with big acts. My approach to wedding photography is simple: to create a whole story that documents your most important day in the most natural and beautiful way possible. Working on all that the pictures are captured for forever. I will always look to capture your special day naturally and organically, documenting the fun, laughter and happiness as and how it occurs. I cover set up, love, photographs of your big day directing you or your guests. I follow the narrative of the day and capture all of the magical moments.

Top Tips for Capturing Professional Wedding Photography

Candid moments are some of the most cherished memories of a wedding day. Capturing these unposed and spontaneous moments can create a beautiful and authentic representation of your special day. To achieve this, it is important to follow professional strategies throughout the event.

Mastering Candid Photography

Blend in: As a photographer or videographer, it's important to blend in with the crowd and become a part of the background. This will help you capture natural interactions between the couple and their guests without making them feel uncomfortable or awkward. Anticipate the Moment: Being alert and anticipating the moment is key to capturing candid shots. Keep an eye out for spontaneous moments like a hug or a kiss between the couple or a candid moment between guests.

  • Use a Telephoto Lens: Using a telephoto lens can help you capture candid moments from a distance without being too intrusive.
  • Stay Alert during Speeches: Speeches are a great opportunity for capturing candid moments; keep your camera focused on the couple and the guests to capture their natural reactions.
  • Capture the Details: Candid moments don't just happen between people; they also happen in the details like the wedding decor and the food.
  • Don't Interrupt the Moment: When you see a candid moment happening, let the moment unfold naturally and capture it from a distance.

Handling Weather and Seasonal Challenges

It’s no surprise that rain on a wedding day isn’t ideal, but instead of walking into the day wishing it would go away, we can walk in with confidence. Letting your confidence and excitement overshadow any nervousness will be a huge comfort to the couple. To prepare for these conditions, you should consider the following:

Bring clear umbrellas so that even on a rainy wedding day, you can venture outside. Arrive early to scout for locations around the venue to look for overhangs. Some good places to look for overhangs are churches, park pavilions, bridges, and downtown buildings.

Spring Wedding Elements

Spring is a season brimming with renewal and vitality, making it an ideal setting for wedding photography. The blossoms and verdant landscapes offer vibrant colors and delicate textures that can transform your images into timeless pieces of art. The golden hour, with its soft, golden hues, provides a stunning backdrop for wedding portraits. To maximize this effect, focus on intimate moments between the couple and experiment with backlighting.

Planning and Professional Preparation

For wedding photos you'll want to look at for years to come, start searching early for a pro, about a year before your wedding date. Look at a few highlight galleries of weddings from each photographer to get a sense of their quality and aesthetic. Once you hire a photographer, a prewedding photo shoot is never a bad idea as it is a great opportunity to get comfortable being in front of a lens.

The following table summarizes essential strategies for managing different aspects of wedding photography:

Category Key Professional Tip
Candid Shots Anticipate spontaneous moments like a hug or a kiss.
Rainy Weather Invest in clear umbrellas and scout for overhangs early.
Spring Season Incorporate vibrant florals like tulips and cherry blossoms.
Client Education Downplay the rain as much as possible to ensure couple's comfort.
Booking Process Sign a contract that includes hours, postproduction, and timing.

Final Technical Advice

Use a shallow depth of field to blur backgrounds and highlight the intricate details of the flowers. This approach not only highlights the season’s beauty but also reflects the couple’s natural chemistry and connection. Remember that as a photographer, you have a HUGE role in how the day plays out, as the couple will feed off your energy and excitement.

Engagement and Couple Photographer Cornwall

As well as being a wedding photographer in Cornwall I am also a professional couple and engagement photoshoots. I love photographing love! In which I do love having photographed couples for the last 15 years in Cornwall and the rest of the world.

Whether you are a new couple or have been married for 50+ years, a professional couple is a wonderful gift. I have photographed couples of many stages of their relationship.

I always make sure the photoshoots are relaxed, unposed, and fun. Not many people enjoy having their photos taken, including me, which is why I make sure that you are both relaxed and happy during the shoot.

Engagement photoshoots are a great way to get used to the camera before your wedding and are offered as part of my wedding photography.
