Romantic Beach Anniversary Photo Shoot in the Netherlands

We love anniversary shoots, they’re such a fabulous way of celebrating love! ANOUSCHKA ROKEBRAND captured these beautiful images on a beach in Holland for Arusha and Arjen whom recently celebrated four years of marriage and have been together for almost 17 years in total.

The Story of Arusha and Arjen

Their journey began years ago when they met during a school outing to the theatre in Arnhem, Holland. After exchanging looks, during the interval Arusha gave her phone number to Arjen and as they say, the rest is history. Many years later, Arjen proposed in 2011, in Iceland, where they did a stopover on their way to New York City.

The proposal itself was a memorable event. Arjen had everything prepared and the beautiful spa in Iceland was in on Arjen’s proposal plans. Arusha however, had other plans. Arjen tried to coach her to the location where he wanted to propose (champagne was on it’s way at a certain time) and he had the ring safely tucked away, but Arusha was interested in going anywhere and everywhere except for the spot Arjen wanted her to be. He then had to force her to sit down and it started to dawn on her what was happening. Arjen proposed, Arusha said yes and the champagne arrived! Following the engagement, in May 2012 they said I do on a gorgeous Summer’s day.

A Romantic Anniversary Session

With so many years of love under their belts, what better way to celebrate than by doing a romantic anniversary session on the beach, one of their favourite places. Anouschka tells us, “With bare feet and gorgeous outfits we headed to the beach to document their beautiful love.” For their outfits we went for a casual chic look with a bit of a boho feel, featuring a romantic lace gown for Arusha and a linen suit for Arjen. Arusha’s hair and make-up was beautifully done by Marianne of THE BEAUTIFUL BRIDE COMPANY and we added a stunning headpiece by SIBO DESIGNS to complete the look. The beautiful bouquet matched the neutral palette perfectly.

What a beautiful example these two are for their little baby girl with so much love and devotion for each other. It was a joy to see and even more so to be able to document it and create more precious heirlooms for them.
