Cornwall Wedding Photographer

Unposed, Natural, Relaxed Professional Photography

Hey! I'm Steven. I am a Cornwall Wedding Photographer. I have been professionally photographing weddings since 2004 and have captured hundreds of happy couples. Before I was a wedding photographer I was a professional music photographer working worldwide with big acts. My approach to wedding photography is simple: to create a whole story that documents your most important day in the most natural and beautiful way possible. Working on all that the pictures are captured for forever. I will always look to capture your special day naturally and organically, documenting the fun, laughter and happiness as and how it occurs. I cover set up, love, photographs of your big day directing you or your guests. I follow the narrative of the day and capture all of the magical moments.

A Little Bit About Me

I love being a wedding photographer in Cornwall. I've been professionally photographing weddings since 2004 and have captured hundreds of happy couples. Before I was a wedding photographer I was a professional music photographer working worldwide with big acts. Photography has always been a huge passion of mine ever since I was a child.

I grew up in Cornwall but have enjoyed travelling the world as much as possible since my early 20s. Not only do I love photographing weddings in Cornwall, I've never been lucky enough to capture couples special days all over the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

Do you really need wedding group photos? 7 USEFUL TIPS

Your wedding photos are so important – they will hold you memories and they will be the one thing you will have left once your wedding day is gone. That’s why choosing the right wedding photographer for you is so important, the photographer that fits YOUR style and personality. Engaged couples are very often interested in natural and creative wedding photography. They want something that really captures their true nature and that’s why the term ‘FORMAL WEDDING PICTURES’, ‘GROUP SHOTS’ or ‘GROUP WEDDING PHOTOS’ sounds too traditional. However, no matter how original the wedding is, every bride and groom will still want wedding group photos.

If you think about it, how many opportunities do you actually get to have EVERYONE you love around you on one day? As one bride, Sue, noted: “From someone who was married many, many years ago – at the time I didn’t want any, but the photographer did them anyway…. Over time, as we sadly have said farewell to quite a few people who were part of our day, they have become very precious.” There is something special about seeing everyone together, despite the fact that they are quite formal compared to the rest of our photos.

Natural Looking Group Pictures

Many couples prefer the more natural photographs, but formal shots can be captured beautifully. One client, Sam, mentioned: “I didn’t actually want any group shots because I prefer the more natural photographs, however, I’m so glad you convinced me otherwise. And even your ‘posed’ photographs look completely natural.” Another bride, Chloe, agreed: “I prefer natural shots. We only had minimal formal ones… Some of the later formal shots where we were lined up as if to take a formal pic, turned into a natural one as you captured it before we’d even realized it was going to be taken.”

Remembering Your Loved Ones

It’s a bit like school photography it simply has to be done, for the record. It does not happen often enough that families come together... It’s history in the making! In years to come you’ll appreciate having photo’s of loved ones who are no longer with you. Sarah added: “I wanted the few formal group photos just so I can see what everyone was wearing and remember who was there. The day goes so quickly it’s nice to see everyone all together.”

7 TOP TIPS for the Perfect Balance

In order to have the perfect balance at your wedding – both enjoy the day and have the group photos taken, you have to remember a couple of VERY IMPORTANT things:

  • Don’t have too many pictures on the list – a list of 6-10 is still OK.
  • Remember – wedding group photos take time. Long lists need more time which makes every guest wish they were anywhere else but here.
  • Think about your guests. Which wedding would be better remembered? The one where you spent an hour waiting for photographs, or the one where you don’t even remember the photos happening.

To help you plan your schedule, here is the average time required to set up these shots:

Group Size Estimated Time
2-8 people 5 minutes

Top Ways to Wow Your Wedding Guests

Creating the ultimate wedding guest experience is a breeze with strategic planning, heartfelt consideration, and your unique personal touch. Elevate the experience by considering the invaluable addition of a wedding planner or coordinator—this critical role not only enhances the overall coordination of the day but also provides a go-to resource for your guests or family members with any inquiries.

Create a Welcoming Atmosphere

Ensure your guests feel embraced from the moment they arrive by selecting a dedicated greeting committee. Station ushers or greeters at the entrance of your venue or ceremony location, extending a friendly hello as guests walk in, and guiding them to their seats. This allows you, the couple, to savor every moment without being inundated with questions.

Add an Element of Surprise

While your wedding guests may anticipate the traditional elements of a ceremony, why not take their experience to the next level? Elevate the magic by incorporating surprise elements that will truly wow your guests. Imagine a unique tribute or live musical performance during the ceremony, perhaps featuring a stringed quartet or a talented harpist. Your wedding guests will love the addition of surprising twists to your wedding, creating unforgettable moments that will be cherished by all.

Engagement and Couple Photographer Cornwall

As well as being a wedding photographer in Cornwall I am also a professional couple and engagement photoshoots. I love photographing love! In which I do love having photographed couples for the last 15 years in Cornwall and the rest of the world.

Whether you are a new couple or have been married for 50+ years, a professional couple is a wonderful gift. I have photographed couples of many stages of their relationship.

I always make sure the photoshoots are relaxed, unposed, and fun. Not many people enjoy having their photos taken, including me, which is why I make sure that you are both relaxed and happy during the shoot.

Engagement photoshoots are a great way to get used to the camera before your wedding and are offered as part of my wedding photography.
